It says it pretty straight forward in Romans
Romans 8:17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
God doesn’t promise us that everything is perfect in the Christian walk. Quite the opposite actually. There will be strife. There will be heartache and down times. Even though Christ lives in us, we still live in a world that is completely broken. A world that is full of death, hate, poverty, lust, and so on. As we live in the world, we have to deal with the things of the world. But there is something different that Christian have that others don’t. Christ. Being a Christian, I have hope. I have a love and an outlook on life that most people without Christ probably wouldn’t understand. Strength must be found in Christ and Christ alone. If strength is found in a boyfriend or girlfriend, best friend or family member, you will be let down. It’s not their fault, it’s just reality. No person is perfect. No person can sustain you and fill the void that is within us. Except Christ. He is the only one that can and will fill the void.
Romans 5:3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
Duh it’s not easy. Duh it’s not natural. But when you give your life over to Christ, he changes you. He replaces our sinful nature with a new nature that wants to follow him. No matter what you may be carrying, no matter how sinful or horrible you think you are Christ will change you radically. Many people have come to me saying “I’ll fix myself and then become saved.” But that is the whole point of Christ. HE changes you. HE puts a heart of flesh into you. HE changes your nature, mind, and soul. There is nothing that we can do to fix ourselves, BUT give our life to Christ. That’s it.
